Sanity...

Lonely in the night as the darkness beckons,
I sit listless and count the seconds,
That tick by slowly while my breathing slows,
As I dive into a world that no one knows.

Every night’s ritual this, my sordid game,
Far from a life of fear and blame,
I choose to hide in the shadows and dark,
Afraid of light and hope’s frail spark.

Decay...

No matter how it starts… with smile or a song,
A fleeting glance in the street, or a raindrop in the morn…
Be it day or night, or sunset or dawn.
I lie with my eyes closed… alone and forlorn

It just never seems to matter… that I had a fun day
Night seems to show up… and just sweep it all away,
It’s useless how I try to dream once again…
Things always come back… to this same dull old pain

Hypocrisy...

If you were to stop a random guy in the middle of a street and ask him what he thought was the biggest flaw in society today… you would have (in addition to several expletives for accosting strangers during their all important busy schedule) enough answers to fill volumes. Most of these answers would be valid and very true… except for the ones from immature toddlers or their corresponding adults. And, since we live in a world filled with imperfections… hardly any of them would be wrong. Since, I too am entitled to an opinion (and since this is my damn page) Here’s what I feel, is what’s the biggest threat to society as we know… or at least visualize it.

How about I give you a hint to help figure it out…?

Stranger...

Watching the crowd pass, like windblown leaves,
A few folk stop, to show how they grieve,
Some of them you knew, in a distant past,
When the grass was green, and promises would last,
Now at the end, of fortune's eave
You wipe your brow on a torn sleeve
As you stand alone, while friends fade fast.

You remember a time when faces had names,
When laughter was alive amidst fun and games,
But all it took was a single stroke,
To make eyes blind… and your voice choke
The loss of a dream and the death of an aim
Took you to oblivion from the hall of fame,
While your crooning friends began to croak.

Serenity...

He craved serenity, his elusive mistress,
He desired her soft slow touch,
And through hard days,
And night’s thick haze,
He hounded her among, the world’s wide maze,
To hold her tight and never let go,
And keep her forever in his clutch.

Like Odysseus’ quest, as he homeward sailed
Even Atlas’ eternal toil,
Fought mortal men,
With the strength of ten,
As they sought escape from their restless den,
To have for a moment a vestige of peace
Till it was time to return to soil
